Greenhouse gas emissions reporting made easy.

Why do I need to start carbon accounting?

Regulations are requiring large companies to report on their emissions, including those associated with the companies they buy goods and services from. They can't report on their own emissions with accuracy, if they don't know yours. Plus, customers and clients increasingly want to know the emissions associated with the businesses they support.

Sustainability is good for profit, good for people, and good for the planet.

How does it work?

Spend less time on chasing and processing data, manual calculations, and report writing.

Spend more time on sustainability strategy, action implementation, and change management.

Our carbon accounting services provide you with everything you need to consistently measure your emissions.

What’s included:

Carbon Accounting Software

Discounted access to our preferred carbon accounting software, Sumday.

Sumday provides comprehensive Scope 1, 2, and 3 carbon accounting capabilities and audit-ready emissions reports and dashboards, so you can meaningfully measure and reduce your emissions.

Have your own in-house tools already? No problem! We can use those too.

Monthly Carbon Accounting

Each month, we do the legwork to process the required data to consistently measure and report your emissions. All you need to do is provide us with the data, and we’ll do the calculations and prepare your emissions reports for you.

We’ll even run data collection campaigns on your behalf, to collect Scope 3 emissions data from your suppliers.

It’s like having your very own in-house carbon accountant.

Sustainability & Data Advisory

Continuously improve your sustainability performance and data capabilities with advisory hours included in your subscription.

Our sustainability advisory helps you identify areas for emissions reductions, develop decarbonisation strategies, and supports you with staff training.

Our data advisory helps you identify areas for data improvements, including assessing your current systems & processes, and providing recommendations for changes.

Our mission is to make data-driven sustainability accessible to everyone small to large, so we have different pricing packages based on the size and needs of your business. Get in touch with us for pricing.

Let’s talk pricing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Great question! For starters, the average annual cost of a full-time sustainability professional ranges anywhere from $75k up to $140k, plus benefits, super, training, etc.

We’re confident that our subscription fee is less than the cost of hiring a full time, or even part time, staff member to do in-house carbon accounting.

If you have in-house sustainability staff, you (and they) probably want them working on meaningful things like strategy, implementation, and change management, and not on processing data and calculations (if they they do like processing data, power to them!). We support your sustainability staff by taking the manual, tedious stuff off their hands.

  • You can, and in fact, we encourage that. The more people upskilled and emissions aware, the better!

However, training someone requires time and resources. You’d also be taking them away from their normal responsibilities, or adding extra responsibilities to their - assuming already quite full - plates.

We offer training services for your team in carbon accounting, get in touch to find out more.

  • You could, I mean, technically we’re consultants too. But traditional consulting firms will charge you anywhere from $30k up to $80k+ for a one-off annual carbon inventory (depending on your size), that usually takes around 8-12 weeks to complete. They’ll also charge extra to do your reports, reach out to your suppliers, etc.

With us, you get access to carbon accounting software, carbon accounting services, and sustainability & data advisory for a fixed monthly fee, whenever you need it, for the duration of your subscription. Plus, you get the added the benefit of greater frequency and granularity into your emissions performance, helping you make proactive decarbonisation changes. Your reports will also be ready as soon as the year ends, meaning those disclosures can be lodged straight away and shared with your value chain when your customers inevitably ask for it.

  • That’s great! If you already have a carbon accounting tool that you’re happy with, then power to you. There’s a great assortment of solutions out there that have great and sophisticated functionality.

However, carbon accounting software is only as good as your inputs. That means having the right data available in the right formats, having the time and resources to do the data processing, and then having the skills to draw meaningful insights from that data. If these are missing, then you’re not maximising your investment. Our services take away the manual stuff so you can focus on the important bits - formulating strategy and implementing change.

If you have a tool that you’d rather us use instead of Sumday, we’re happy to do that too. We can use what ever you have, including Salesforce’s Net Zero Cloud, Microsoft Sustainability Manager, etc.

Bear in mind that we’ll need to re-estimate the subscription fee based on the effort required for your platforms. Get in touch with us to discuss.

  • We use the GHG Protocol as our methodology, and we align with SBTi, GRI, NGERs, and future ASSB standards for our reporting. We’re currently Sumday Certified Advisors, and we’re working on becoming Climate Active Certified Consultants.

Our emissions factors are sourced from Sumday, using reputable sources like AUS DCCEEW, but we can source and use custom emissions factors if we need to from libraries like IELabs.

    For our calculation methodologies:

    • Scope 1 - Activity data where possible (i.e. kms travelled for mobile combustion, kg of refrigerants, etc.), but dollar spend if that’s what’s available.

    • Scope 2 - Location-based calculations using kWh from your electricity bills for the moment. We’re working on our market-based calculations capabilities.

    • Scope 3 - Supplier provided and activity data where possible, but dollar spend if that’s what’s available. We’ll work with you to understand the data that’s available. For your initial baseline, we’ll be using your GL transactions to do an spend-based assessment. We’ll run data collection campaigns with your value chain to gather Scope 3 data (but we’re not responsible for the data they choose (or not) to provide us.

  • Our onboarding is designed to get you going on the right foot for carbon accounting with us. As part of the onboarding, we’ll:

    • Conduct a baseline materiality assessment using your GL data and electricity bills so we can see what your biggest emissions sources are.

    • Draw agreed organisation and operational boundaries.

    • Data & Asset Source Mapping to see where your data is coming from and in what formats.

    • Set up data flows, including email forwarding, exported reports, etc.

    • Set you up with a subscription to Sumday.

  • We love Sumday for its simplicity, focus on auditability & transparency, and ease of use. It’s got Xero integrations (perfect for small business), as well as a tonne of resources for education.

  • Of course you can! Head to the Sumday website to get started.

Of course, you’ll still need someone that knows the data to collect, how carbon accounting works, and set aside the time to calculate your emissions, but if you want to learn, then power to you!
